Sir Peter Cosgrove visits PPC
Sir Peter Cosgrove, former Governor General of Australia, paid a visit to the Pro Patria Centre to meet with local veterans and discuss ways to enhance support for their mental health. During his visit, he received a guided tour of the facility ahead of its first-ever open day.
As a champion for the rehabilitation and treatment of First Responders and Veterans who may be experiencing PTSD, Sir Peter Cosgrove expressed his commitment to collaborating with the Pro Patria Centre to bring about real change in how discharged ADF Personnel are supported. The centre has a significant connection to Sir Peter, as some of the veterans involved with the Pro Patria Centre had previously served under his leadership in East Timor and Iraq.
Now serving as a patron for healthcare provider St John of God, Sir Peter Cosgrove's visit to the Pro Patria Centre aligns with his mission to provide comprehensive support to those struggling with mental health issues. Recognising that a one-size-fits-all approach is inadequate, he emphasised the importance of embracing and assisting everyone who has served their fellow Australians and is now experiencing stress-related challenges.
The Pro Patria Centre team expressed their delight at the former Governor General's timely visit, which took place just 24 hours before the centre's inaugural open day. Touring the facility with his wife, Lady Lynne Cosgrove, they were both inspired by the hard work and progress being made by the dedicated local community.
The Pro Patria Centre remains committed to creating a brighter future for the men and women of the Riverina who have selflessly served their country.
