Pro Patria Parliamentary Patrons

The Pro Patria Centre Chair and Board are delighted to announce the appointment of the Hon. Mr. Michael McCormack MP Federal Member for Riverina and Hon. Dr. Joe McGirr, State Member for Wagga Wagga as Federal and State Parliamentary Patrons of the Pro Patria Centre.

On accepting his role Mr McCormack said:

Pro Patria aims to provide services for Defence Personnel, which is important for the tri-service city of Wagga Wagga.

Many of our Defence Personnel choose to stay in Wagga Wagga or return to the city once they finish their Military careers and they deserve the very best support, especially in areas such as mental health well-being.

I am impressed with the dedication and vision of those supporting the facility and am only too happy to support this important initiative.

Dr McGirr made the following statement, recognising the importance of first responders as part of the Pro Patria Centre mission:

I am honoured to accept the role of State Parliamentary Patron for the Pro Patria Centre in Wagga Wagga. I am looking forward to supporting the Pro Patria Centre to develop to provide a place for veterans and frontline personnel, and their families and carers, to receive much needed treatment and support services close to home. Wagga Wagga is the home of the soldier. Sadly we now recognise as a society and community we need to do much more to support especially our modern veterans. PPC will help us to do that in our region. It will also, in a unique way, continue the legacy of the Carmelite monastery.

Pro Patria Centre welcomes our Parliamentary Patrons and we look forward to working with them to progress our work across the Riverina.
