Welcome to Our Macquarie University Media Interns!

All Macquarie University students undertake a Professional and Community Engagement Unit as part of their course work. It is a fantastic program where students engage in real-world learning, working and contributing. It is a fantastic program for Pro Patria Centre too because we get to work with these talented students and benefit from their skills and expertise. This semester we welcome Lachlan, Yuqi and Emily.

My name’s Lachlan Page and I am a highly motivated and progress-focused third year student at Macquarie University. I am studying a Bachelor of Media, majoring in Public Relations and Social Media whilst working part-time for Channel Nine. Throughout my degree I have been lucky enough to engage in multiple roles as work-experience and hope to utilise the skills and knowledge I gained from these to assist in my work. I am very ambitious about my time with the Pro Patria Centre, as both my grandfather and father have served in the military, so I have seen firsthand the difficulties that veterans are faced with in their life after service. Although I have taken a very different career path, I see this as an opportunity to relate to some of the struggles they’ve been through and spread awareness around the hardships veterans face when returning to life beyond service.

I’m Yuqi, from Macquarie University. I’m in my final year of my undergraduate degree in

media and communication, majoring in public relations. I have already had work experience in

media and social media operations. It is a pleasure to be able to participate and collaborate in

the work of the Pro Patria.

Hello, my name is Emily, and I am currently enrolled in Macquarie University's Bachelor of Media and Communications, Interactive Design program. I was born in Australia, raised in Japan, and lived there for almost my entire life. After two years of studying at a Japanese university following my high school graduation, I moved to Australia to start my degree. I am eager to put my skills and knowledge to use in order to contribute and provide the same service that I received. In my spare time, I like to explore the city, try new restaurants, and attend live music shows. I also enjoy reading books about personal development and self-improvement.
