Significant Grant from DVA
Yesterday, the Minister for Veterans Affairs, the Hon Matt Keogh MP announced the details and recipients of the Veteran Wellbeing Grants One-Off Program.
Pro Patria Centre is excited to confirm that we are one of the grantees. We have extended our thanks to Minister Keogh and the Albanese Government for this significant grant.
What does this mean for Pro Patria Centre?
Receiving such a significant grant is an endorsement by the Commonwealth Government of Pro Patria Centre and the work we are undertaking. It is a morale boost for our volunteer team and every single person who supports us financially and in kind.
Materially, this grant will enable Pro Patria Centre to bring forward our plans to co-locate the Defence Shed Wagga Wagga on site at the Centre. The grant will fund a purpose built workshop and classroom.
Having these facilities onsite will mean more opportunities for courses and training through the Defence Shed and Pro Patria Centre.
We know that social connections, education, lifelong learning and pathways to meaningful employment are protective factors for mental and physical health. Expanding the facilities at Pro Patria Centre is the next step and creating local, wrap around, veteran centric services for Veterans and their families.
Like all of our projects this is a community endeavour. If you or your business are in a position to assist with this project and other plans we have, please make contact.
