Empowering Communities: Grassroots Initiatives Drive Pro Patria Centre to over $1 Million in Funding
In a testament to the power of community-driven efforts, the Pro Patria Centre has achieved a momentous milestone, securing over $1 million in funding from the incredible support of the community and philanthropic donors. This significant achievement has been made possible through a substantial contribution from the esteemed Thyne Reid Foundation, propelling the PPC closer to its goal of acquiring the building and land currently held by the Carmelite Order later this year. While the centre is well on its way to reaching the $1.5 million target, there remains a considerable funding gap that requires ongoing efforts to bridge. Yet, the overwhelming projections and pledges pouring in from the Wagga community and corporate donors undeniably demonstrate an extraordinary level of support for the Pro Patria Centre’s ongoing mission.
At the heart of this inspiring journey lies the strength of grassroots community initiatives. The recent Open Day stands as a shining example, where the collective generosity of members of the public contributed over $4,000 in cash donations. These selfless acts of kindness from individuals in the community have left an indelible mark, showcasing the power of unity and compassion. Alongside these heartfelt individual contributions, prominent organisations such as the Wagga RSL Club, the Pitch Up Wagga, and various Rotary Clubs in Wagga have stepped forward to make substantial donations, bolstering the remarkable fundraising amount. Furthermore, the unwavering support from individuals, trusts, and foundations has played a vital role in propelling the new centre towards its ambitious funding goal.
Moving forward after the property settlement is finalised we are looking at four pillars of development to support our veterans and first responders.
First: To complete Stage 2 renovations over the next 5 to 6 months and begin commencement of new medical services.
Second: Design & complete the commercial kitchen upgrade to begin utilising our organic vegetable garden produce.
Third: Commence design & seek funding for the Defence Shed Wagga Wagga flagship project.
Fourth: Provide and facilitate official medical education & training for medical professionals throughout the region
Grassroots community initiatives and the invaluable contributions from individuals are vital components of successful fundraising campaigns. They create a profound impact, allowing communities to rally together and make a meaningful difference. The Pro Patria Centre, taken from the Latin, “for one's country” stands as a testament to the significance of such initiatives. The centre's unwavering mission is to provide comprehensive healthcare services to individuals from (and not limited to) the six services; Army, Navy Airforce, Police, Firefighters, and Ambulance. The funds raised will not only enable the acquisition of the building and land but also enable the medical centre to enhance its facilities, expand its range of services, and attract top-tier medical professionals to join us in the Riverina.
The Pro Patria Centre extends its deepest gratitude to the Wagga community and philanthropic donors whose remarkable support has brought them closer to realising this ambitious endeavour. However, the journey is not yet complete, and the centre remains steadfast in its commitment to closing the remaining funding gap. It is an open invitation to individuals, businesses, and organisations to join this community-driven initiative and contribute to the ongoing mission of the Pro Patria Centre. Every contribution, regardless of its size, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional healthcare services to those in need.
